Russian choir “Beregini” (“Beregiņi”)
Russian song choir “Beregini” was established on February 7, 1990. Thus (“beregini”) in ancient Russia called fun and attractive beings – ghosts who lived near the houses, protected them and the inhabitants living at home from evil forces, gave families peace and mutual understanding.
The leader of the choir “Beregiņi” is Nadežda Osipova. The choir’s repertoire includes Russian folk songs, songs by Russian and Belarusian composers and poets, as well as Latvian and Latgalian folk songs.
The choir has participated in international Slavic culture festivals in Daugavpils, Kraslava, Preili, Salaspils, as well as in many events and festivals in Rezekne. In 2004, participating in the competition “Russian Culture in Latvia”, “Beregini” won the main prize. The choir has also participated in the Russian Culture Days and the traditional event “Tatiana’s Day”, which took place in Daugavpils and Riga. The choir has performed at concerts, festivals and shows in Riga, Tallinn (Estonia), Stockholm (Sweden), Pskov (Russia), Visaginas (Lithuania) and other cities.
In 2010, the choir won the first place at the International Music TV Festival “Amberstar” (Riga-Stockholm), in 2012 at the International Competition “Narva sings” (Tallinn, Estonia) – the second place. On July 3, 2013, the choir “Beregini” together with other groups of the Culture House of Rezekne National Societies participated in the Minority Concert Performance “Under one sky” within the framework of the XXV General Latvian Song and XV Dance Festival.
